Black Obsidian Men's Retreat Application
Thank you so much for your interest in this retreat. The Black Obsidian Men's Retreat is a space of intention specifically for people who identify as black men. It is a space for wisdom sharing and courage building where vulnerability and connection is fostered through group discussions and facilitated exercises meant to stretch your mind and spirit. It is a safe space where men can come together to develop or deepen a healing practice like qigong or meditation. It is a place of deep rest and belonging where black men reflecting the broad spectrum of our community can come together to heal from the harm of white supremacy and male supremacy.
Black Obsidian believes that an important part of our liberation begins with shedding the limiting and harmful definitions of blackness and manhood pushed on us by the practice of those forms of oppression. We welcome our people from all parts of the African diaspora; all economic and religious or spiritual backgrounds: all sexual orientations and age ranges from 18 up. We welcome queer and trans men. In short, we encourage all people who identify as black and as men to apply.
The retreat will be at the Incarnation Center in Ivoryton CT, beginning with lunch at 12 pm on Friday, January 28th and ending with lunch at 12 pm on Sunday, January 30th. All meals and lodging will be provided. Applications are due by January 5th at midnight.
