Micro Galleries is a free global arts initiative that uses art as a vehicle to create positive change.

We do this through creative interventions in public spaces. We work together with communities who are in some kind of social or creative need, and together create new dialogues, opportunities, imaginings, and creative possibilities.

Throughout the year we have a program of micro injections, which culminate in our annual Micro Galleries Festival: Micro Galleries Live. This is where YOU come in!

MG Live works with local and international artists to change the landscape of public spaces and turn them into interactive galleries that break down the walls that traditionally house art. We bring together international and local artists who use street, fine, experimental and live art, and together we create open air galleries, live performance events, workshops, tours, talks, think tanks and artist residencies; bringing art to the doorstep of people who need it the most,  all free and accessible.

Micro Galleries aims to demonstrate that art is for everyone and can have a positive impact on a community; that art does not have to only be presented in galleries and theatres, but can break out of these spaces and ingrain itself into a community; that a community can have ownership and involvement in the creation and appreciation of art work and that art can change how people perceive social issues or their environment in a positive way – even if it simply changes someone’s day for the better; that street art isn’t just graffiti and vandalism but a way to reactivate spaces in a community and change a town into a fun, exciting, curious and wonderful canvas of works.

Purpose:
To use an intimate, bottom-up approach to making change and connections, and to draw further global attention to local and globalised issues

Micro Galleries will create a platform and space for artists to explore in order to communicate, reimagine, and generate creative solutions and possibilities.

HOW DO YOU FIT IN?

We have a global volunteer team however, we always partner with a lead local organisation and work with a local team of creative leaders to realise this project, in partnership together.  This includes roles such as Creative Producer / Production Manager/ Volunteer Manager / Community Liaison / Residency Managers etc.

There is a small fee for the partner organisation and Micro Galleries has a small amount of funding to realise this project with a special someone...

If this sounds like it could be you - read on!  We will be in touch with everyone who provides an Expression of Interest with more detailed information about the scope, role and expectations.
