Early Explorers Group

Our KidsAbility Early Explorers Group for children aged 1-3 years follows a structured and engaging routine designed to promote learning, interaction, and developmental progress. Here’s an overview of a typical group session:

  1. Circle Time:
    • Children gather in a circle, with each child having a designated spot identified by a name card or shape.
    • A visual schedule of the session’s activities is displayed to provide a clear overview of the session.
    • A greeting song is selected based on the children’s verbal and motor abilities, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  2. Songs and Movement:
    • Engaging songs and movement activities are incorporated to encourage participation, coordination, and sensory exploration.
    • Movement activities may include dancing, stretching, or interactive games tailored to the group’s goals and developmental needs.
  3. Book Time:
    • A story or book related to the session’s theme or learning objectives is shared, promoting literacy skills, attention span, and imagination.
    • Interactive storytelling techniques may be used to keep children engaged and involved in the narrative.
  4. Table Top Activity:
    • Children transition to a seated table activity, focusing on fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and cognitive tasks.
    • Activities may include art projects, sensory play, sorting and matching games, or hands-on learning experiences aligned with the session’s goals.
    • Craft or snack activities are often included to provide opportunities for seated engagement and social interaction.
  5. Group Games and Activities:
    • Group games and activities are selected to encourage peer interaction, turn-taking, and functional play skills.
    • Examples include playing Hide and Seek to facilitate turn-taking, cooperative games to promote teamwork, and interactive activities to enhance social skills.
  6. Closing Circle:
    • The session concludes with a closing circle, where children may share their experiences, accomplishments, or thoughts about the activities.
    • A goodbye song or activity is integrated to provide a sense of closure and transition before the end of the session.
    • Activities and suggestions for families to practice at home are distributed, reinforcing learning and continuity outside of the group setting.
