I want Quartz Hill Elementary to be one of the best schools in Arizona.
I want my child to have a great school year – to learn and to have fun!
I want to help decide how PTSO fundraising money is spent.
I want all the students at Quartz Hill to be successful.                                       

If the above statements are true, then come join us the PTSO. Parent involvement is critical for a successful school.  There are jobs that take no more than a couple hours a month, some that are seasonal, and a few that require routine commitment.

President (Elected position, 2-year term)
We want YOU to be our next PTSO President! We’re looking for a creative problem-solver who is comfortable delegating and who can help us focus on making Quartz Hill amazing! 

The Bylaws state: The President shall
a) Preside at all meetings of the Organization and the Executive Board. 
b) Be versed and communicate the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws to committee chairpersons and the Executive Board. 
c) Coordinate the work of officers and committees of the Organization so that the objectives and policies may be promoted. 
d) Be a member ex-officio of all committees, with the exception of the nominating committee. 
e) Be one of the Board members authorized to sign the checks of the Organization  
Vice President (Elected position, 2-year term)

So you’d like to get more involved in PTSO, but don't want to take the lead role just yet? Our VP position has your name written all over it! You’ll learn behind-the-scenes intel and be part of the decision-making on important issues throughout the year. You’ll help the president get things done!


The Bylaws state: The Vice President Shall
a) Act as an assistant to the President and perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to act.
b) Commit to the duties of the President in the event the President vacates office for any reason. 
c) Perform other delegated duties as assigned. 
d) Be one of the Board members authorized to sign the checks of the Organization  
Secretary (Elected position, 2-year term)
If you’re the kind of person who documents everything, we have the perfect role for you. You’ll get to put your stellar recordkeeping skills and attention to detail to good use as our PTSO Secretary. Good listening and computer skills are a must!

The Bylaws state: The Secretary shall
a) Keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all the meetings of the Organization.
b) Distribute official minutes to each Executive Board member and others determined by the Executive Board. c) Maintain the PTSO Book of Record. 
d) Be prepared to refer to the minutes of previous meetings.
e) Conduct necessary correspondence for the Organization in cooperation with the Executive Board.
f) Perform other delegated duties as assigned. g) Be one of the Board members authorized to sign the checks of the Organization  
Co-Treasurer (Elected position, 2-year term)
We have big plans to raise money and fund important projects for our school, and we need someone who likes to count every penny to help us do it. If you secretly love to categorize expenses and create color-coded pie charts, you have what it takes to be our PTSO Co-Treasurer.

The Bylaws state: The Treasurer shall:
a) Establish and/or maintain a checking account and other accounts as determined by the Executive Board.
b) Have custody of all financial records and funds of the Organization.
c) Verify and be responsible for all monies received, as counted by two Executive Board members. Each shall keep an accurate account of all monies from the event.
d) Be responsible for the budget of the organization.
e) Keep a full and accurate account of receipts, deposits and disbursements as authorized by the Officers of the Organization as in accordance with the budget adopted by the Organization.
f) See that checks are properly signed by two people. Prepare financial statement each month, with copies to be distributed to each Executive Board member and others determined by the Executive Board.
g) Arrange an end-of-year financial review/audit by an independent third party (a CPA in not mandatory) who shall provide a letter at the end of the review stating that the Treasurers annual report is correct and acceptable to the best of their knowledge. 
h) Make sure that at least $1,500.00 is left in the treasury for the next school year.  

Co-Fundraising Chairpersons, (2 people needed, appointed position, 2-year term)

QHES PTSO does a lot more than fundraising, but let’s face it, without fundraising, we wouldn’t be able to do much. We’re seeking TWO (or more!) upbeat, detail-oriented parents to coordinate our fundraising efforts next year.

The Co-Fundraising Chairmen are responsible for organizing, coordinating, and raising funds for the organization. He or she will create a yearly plan for fundraising to be approved by the membership early in the year. The Co-fundraising chairmen will coordinate with volunteers and school staff. He or She will organize and run the fundraising committee meetings. It is expected that the Fundraising Chairmen will plan and run at least one major fundraising event each year or every other year.

PUBLICITY & PUBLICATIONS Chairperson 
If you love writing and creating fun newsletters, flyers, signs or displays, and exciting website content then this job is for you!  This person is responsible for updating and maintaining our website. This person will implement and coordinate effective writing services to support the content, design, publishing, and distribution of the PTSO. Along with working closely with our social media coordinator
COMMUNITY OUTREACH Coordinator
Identifies volunteer opportunities & needs with families in school to include ALL members of our school community. Oversees volunteer initiatives and serves as a liaison to outside organizations within our community.
BAGEL BREAKFAST Coordinator
Coordinate with the front office the date for the monthly teacher/staff bagel breakfast. Let the front office know who the sponsoring family is for the month so they can be mentioned on a sign. Also send a Thank You card. Place an order with Einstein Bagels the night before, and pay for the order (the order is set, basically the same order every time.) Give the receipt to Treasurer for reimbursement.
Someone from the office picks up the order the morning of, sets up, and cleans up. 
RESTAURANT NIGHTS Coordinator
Contact restaurants or fun family-oriented businesses about doing a Fundraiser Night for a percentage of sales. Create a flyer. Promote the event by distributing the flyer to teacher mailboxes, adding to the bulletin board, asking Dr.Henry to mention it in her newsletter, and coordinating postings by social media.
Follow up to collect the donation check or confirm it was mailed to the school.
Send a Thank You to the business for their participation and support.
Once per month, excluding December and May.
