GENERAL INFO:
You will need to be available on June 26 from 1:30 PM EST to 5:00 PM EST.
One week before the event starts, we will send more details. This is strictly an overview that is subject to change.
ORIENTATION (1:15 PM - 1:30 PM EDT):
We will review the judging process and answer any questions.
JUDGING PHASE A (1:30 PM EDT - 3:30 PM EDT):
You will join a video conferencing meeting with 2 to 4 other judges and at least one Hack3 representative. Teams will cycle through every five minutes with a rough schedule of the following:
- Teams will pitch, up to two minutes. Here are last year's projects as a preview of what to expect:
https://hack3.devpost.com/project-gallery- You and the other judges will ask questions and give feedback, up to two minutes
- One minute buffer
You and the other judges will evaluate it based on its technical complexity, innovation, and feasibility.
We are expecting 15 - 25 projects per judging group, so this should take roughly 2 hours.
In general, we will place you in a group with complementary skillsets.
JUDGING PHASE B (4:00 PM EDT - 4:30 PM EDT)
You will go through the top ~10 projects with all of the judges (including those from other judging groups) to select winners.
This should take roughly 30 minutes but may extend up to 1 hour.
CLOSING CEREMONY (5:00 PM EDT - 5:30 PM EDT):
From the completion of judging phase B, we will publish the top teams online and allow participants to raise issues until 5 PM EST. Last year, we faced an issue of cheating. We have indexed thousands of Github repositories and created our own plagiarism detection software, but we will still give time for competing teams to raise concerns. At 5 PM EST, we will host a 15-30 minute closing ceremony congratulating teams. If you are interested, you may join to share some thoughts.
