Calling all Visual Artists and Performers! This is your chance to Make Art, Take Action, and Get Paid! 

Creative Action Teen Programs are brave spaces for you to share your thoughts and beliefs and to make powerful art that speaks to important issues in our Austin community and the world at large.

Creative Action is committed to social justice and inclusiveness. We strongly encourage applications from youth of color, LGBTQ+ & non-binary folx, and differently abled people. 

Deadline to apply for Color Squad is June 23rd, 2024 and applications will be reviewed as they come.

The final audition for Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble is May 30th, 2024.

About Our Teen Programs

CHANGING LIVES YOUTH THEATRE ENSEMBLE

In partnership with SAFE's Expect Respect Program, CLYTE is a group of teen artists and activists who use theatre to spark dialogue about teen relationships. Each year, the ensemble creates a brand new original play around the themes of healthy relationships, social justice, and violence prevention. The play tours to middle schools and community settings, reaching up to 3,000 audience members across the greater Austin area. 

COLOR SQUAD

Color Squad is a collective of teen artists that design and implement public and community art. Students collaborate with professional artists and community partners to research, design and install one public facing mural per year, plus make zines, design merch, and more! The collective was voted Best Muralist in Austin in 2019 in the Austin Chronicle’s Best Of poll.
Important Info about All Teen Programs

TIME COMMITMENT
Our programs run from the end of August until the end of May. We typically meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7PM - 9PM. However, each program has specific events and projects that may require students to occasionally meet at a different time or on a different day.

STIPEND
Our teens earn a $850 stipend for their work over the year. The stipend is paid at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

GROUP PARTICIPATION
Our programs are ensembles and collectives meaning that there is space for individual growth, but we are looking for team players who are excited to work with others on collaborative artistic projects.
