【ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS】
◎ Dewi Galuh Sintosari
Galuh, the founder of Dan’s Dance Studio Indonesia, was born in Solo, Central Java. She started her dance studying in 1999 and became a principal dancer at the Istana Mangkunegaran palace. Galuh has performed internationally in London, Taipei, Paris, and has led Indonesian Culture masters workshops in Taiwan from 2009 to 2010 and in 2019.

◎ Danang Pamungkas
Born in Solo, Central Java, Danang is the lead dancer at the Istana Mangkunegaran palace, known for its commitment to excellence in Javanese arts. Danang formally began his studies at SMKI the acclaimed high school for traditional art in Surakarta. He then graduated from ISI, the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta. He is the resident choreographer of the Maya Theatre Company of Singapore, and choreographed Garin Nugroho’s art film Satan Jawa. He has collaborated with Su Wenchi of Taipei Taiwan, Anikaya Dance Theatre Boston, Opera Australia, and Cornell University.

【ABOUT THE DANCE】
The Beksan Menak Konchar is a classical male solo dance with characteristics movements of Wayang Golek (wooden rod-puppet theater), depicts the story of the noble and gentle knight Menak Koncar.

【ABOUT THE SERIES】
Since 2020, many studios and theaters in Indonesia have been impacted because of the pandemic.  The initial mission of the Indonesian Javanese Court Dance Online Workshop Series, to find ways working with dance teachers who have been affected, but also to offer opportunities for people around the world to meet and to learn from the experts in the field during this difficult period.  

This series will be focusing on Javanese Court Dance, an incredibly refined art form with meditative quality. Let’s take the Stay-at-home opportunity to explore the self-awareness process through practicing this introspective art.
