The May 2024 Cohort of the Engaged Faculty Institute Online (EFI Online) will run from May 10-24. The EFI Online is a two-week, cohort-based online course which combines asynchronous and synchronous activities to guide faculty, instructors, and staff who support community-engaged teaching and learning through the core considerations, elements, and process of designing a community-engaged course. The EFI Online features five modules with individual learning activities and course design exercises that are completed over the course of the two-week course period:
- Module 1: Foundations and Critical Commitments
- Module 2: Planning and Facilitation
- Module 3: Partnerships and Engagement
- Module 4: Learning Outcomes and Reflection
- Module 5: Assessment and Evaluation
Based on feedback from previous participants, we estimate that it will take approximately 15-20 hours to complete the modules, although some have worked through them in more or less time.
In addition to the course modules, each week there is an opportunity for EFI Online cohort members to connect with one another during a Zoom video call to discuss and reflect upon the modules and activities, and to share insights and extend their learning through facilitated Q&A and small-group discussion.
Registration is open now, and will close on
Friday, April 26. Participation in the EFI Online is open at no cost to any faculty, instructors, and staff affiliated with an Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact member campus as a benefit of membership.
If you would like to learn more about the online cohort or discuss hosting an in-person Engaged Faculty Institute on your campus, please contact Kara Trebil-Smith at ktrebilsmith@compact.org.
