Alaska Humanities Forum - Culture Shift Speaker Application
Thanks for your interest in being a Culture Shift speaker!  Here's some more info. about the event & role:

At each Culture Shift event, two guests take turns each speaking on a topic that they are passionate about - an idea that challenges cultural norms or assumptions. Then, the audience takes part in a fun, interactive, and thought-provoking Q&A to find connections between the two.

Culture Shift speakers will be prepared to share ~ 10 minute talk about a "radical idea".  We are looking for people who have clearly articulated ideas that may be controversial or counter to what others think. We want it to be spicy! It should be a topic that gets people at the edge of their seats talking. Ideas do not have to be political. For example: 'kids need to be around more drag queens' or 'it's rude to not slurp noodles'. We can provide minimal coaching and talk development support, but really we want people who feel strongly about an idea and are ready to share it.

Also, our Culture Shift event takes place once a month in person in Anchorage.  You must either be based in Anchorage, or be able to coordinate your schedule to be in town for the event date to participate. We offer a small honorarium to speakers. AKHF is unable to provide financial support for travel/lodging.
