NIDS 2nd Annual Meeting Abstract Submission Form
Trainees may submit a 400-word (text only) case or research abstract.  Two abstracts will be selected for oral presentation.  All abstracts will be considered for the Poster Session that will immediately follow the meeting (5 - 6 PM).  All who submit an abstract will automatically be registered for the event.  Posters that have been presented at other conferences within the past year or those who plan to present at future conferences in the next year may be submitted, submitted abstracts will not be published.  Abstracts will be peer reviewed for outstanding quality and timely content.  Posters must be educational and must not promote any commercial product or service.  

Timeline
Abstracts must be submitted by midnight on July 17th, 2023.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance on July 31st, 2023. 

Abstract Guidelines
  • Include abstract title and list all authors.
  • Should not contain tables, charts, or pictures.
  • Be no more than 400 words (not including title, author, and affiliations).
  • Original Research Abstracts: Background, Methods, Results, Discussion & Conclusion
  • Clinical Vignette Abstracts: Background, Case, Discussion & Conclusion
  • A practicing clinician mentor must be included as the senior author.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • All applicants who submit an abstract will be automatically registered for the event and in-person attendance is required.
Poster Guidelines
  • NIDS will supply boards (36" x 48") to adhere your posters.  Your posters should be no larger than 36" x 48" to fit on the board/easel.  The poster can be horizontal or vertical.
  • Posters can be set up between 11:30 AM - 1 PM, they will remain up until the conclusion of the Poster Session (6 PM), and can then be taken down.
  • Presenters will have 5 minutes to concisely present their posters for judging.
Criteria for Poster Evaluation
1. Overall Visual
  • Are the components of the poster balanced across the space?
  • Are text and graphics legible from a reasonable distance?
2. Overall Content
  • Are the poster components organized in a logical flow (from background through significance)?
  • Do the findings support the conclusions?
3. Overall Verbal Presentation
  • Did the presenter sufficiently explain the poster and answer questions?
  • Did the presenter speak clearly and distinctly?
  • Did the presenter show enthusiasm about their topic?
4. Overall Impact
  • Does this scholarship have potential to make a novel or impactful contribution to the field?
  • Does the presenter understand the importance of this potential contribution?
  • Does the presenter indicate they understand how this scholarship fits into the overall field?
5. Time management
  • Did the presenter go over the 5-minute maximal allotted time?
