If you are interested in running high school cross country this fall for Campbell County High School, Alexandria, KY, please fill out this form. I will be in touch soon with more information.
What is Cross Country?
It is long distance racing where athletes compete at the 5K (3.1 miles) distance. If you have never run before, we start out in practice with very low mileage at whatever distance you feel comfortable, 1 mile, 2 miles, etc. We will slowly build you up to longer runs and speed. Our races are usually on Saturday mornings and we run on grass, in fields, woods, etc. We also have many team activities including spaghetti dinners, camp outs, a mini-triathlon, team bonding, etc. Our focus is on being competitive but having fun at the same time.
Practices:
Begin in the middle of July on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 7:30-9:30am (you are expected to run the other days on your own). In August we will go 4 days a week (M, T, Th, F), then once school starts we will go Monday-Friday from 3-5PM. Season ends late October/ Early November.
I will be sending out more detailed information in a few weeks about a schedule and ideas for running over the summer.
