ABSTRACT: Nuclear power will play a crucial role in decarbonizing the energy system. This discussion will review the state of the existing fleet, which is important to reach near term carbon reduction commitments. As nations around the world aim towards a net-zero energy system by mid-century,  emerging nuclear technologies and non-electric use of nuclear energy will be needed. These technologies and related policies under discussion will be examined.
