Students and parents/guardians: Please discuss these encore class options available to 8th graders and decide together what options would be most appropriate for next year. Please understand there is very little flexibility for schedule changes once this form is turned in: give careful thought to your course selection.

Note: Every general education 8th grade student will automatically be enrolled in Science, Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Math all year long. This form is for encore and Spanish II classes ONLY.

*Students need to have completed Spanish I during 7th grade to select Spanish II for 8th grade. Students also need to have completed Band during 7th grade to continue with Band in 8th grade.

OMS Choir Program: All students are welcome to join choir. Please note that students are required to perform at least three times a year outside of normal school hours, and that my parents must provide transportation to and from these performances.

Option #1: Spanish II and 3 Encores- Spanish II students who do NOT take band or choir will be enrolled in three encore classes: those have yet to be determined. However, they will likely be three of the following choices: art, tech ed, computers, leadworthy, healthy living, STEM, or life fitness (PE).

Option #2: Band and 3 Encores- Band students (Must have completed band in 6th grade.) who do NOT take Spanish I or choir will be enrolled in three encore classes: those have yet to be determined. However, they will likely be three of the following choices: art, tech ed, computers, leadworthy, healthy living, STEM, or life fitness (PE). Band students also signing up for Spanish II OR choir (you may only take 2 of the 3) will have NO other encore classes (see below).

Option #3:Choir and 3 Encores- Choir students who do NOT take Spanish II or band will be enrolled in three encore classes: those have yet to be determined. Option #4: Spanish II AND Band- Students who sign up for both Spanish II AND band will have NO other encore classes, as this combination leaves no more room in their schedule.

Option #5: The Spanish II AND Choir- Students who sign up for both Spanish II AND choir will have NO other encore classes, as this combination leaves no more room in their schedule.

Option #6: Band AND Choir- Students who sign up for both band AND choir will have NO other encore classes, as this combination leaves no more room in the schedule.

Option #7: Encore Rotations- Students that request NO music classes and are NOT in Spanish II will be enrolled in six one-trimester encore classes, including a combination of art, leadworthy, computers, STEM, healthy living, tech. ed., and life fitness.
