BASKETBALL COLLEGE (YEAR 9 & 10) REGISTRATION 2024

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Your child has expressed an interest in representing the school in the Harbour College (Year 9 & 10) Basketball Competition for 2024.

Proposed details are as follows:

COMPETITION COMMENCEMENT DATES - All Year 9 and 10 Basketball Leagues begin in Week 1, Term 2 (Wednesday 1st May 2024- Friday 3rd May 2024).  The season is 12 weeks long which includes 1 week of finals. 

VENUE -   Games are played at the Eventfinda Stadium (North Shore Events Centre), AUT, YMCA,
Northcross Intermediate, Westlake Boys High School and Massey University -Albany,
unless stated otherwise on the draw.

COMPETITION PLAYING DAY AND TIME 
Year 9 Boys League 1 - Thursdays
Year 9 Boys League 2 - Fridays
Year 9 Girls - Fridays 

Junior Boys League 1 - Thursdays 
Junior Boys League 2 - Wednesdays
Junior Girls League 1 - Thursday 
Junior Girls League 2 - Wednesday 

Games are played anywhere between 3.50pm and 9pm. 

We will be in contact with confirmed days of play at the conclusion of trials. 

REQUIRED UNIFORM -  AJHS Basketball Singlet (issued for the season) and AJHS PE shorts. All students must wear sports shoes. Mouthguards are compulsory.

TRAINING - Teams will have a minimum of one training per week, which will be held in the school gym either before or after school. Training days and times will be advised once teams and coaches confirmed.

TRIALS 
Year 9 and 10 Girls - Wednesday 13th March 2024 Lunchtime 1:25-2:15pm 
Year 9 and 10 Boys - Wednesday 13th March 2024 After School 3:30-5:00pm 

Both trials will be held in the AJHS Gym, students need to ensure that they have PE shirt, shorts and basketball/sports shoes as well as a water bottle. Spectators are not permitted at AJHS sports trials. 

TRANSPORT - It is the responsibility of parent/caregivers to either transport their child to the games and trainings each week or to arrange for another parent/caregiver to transport them. The school does not provide transport for this competition.

HARBOUR BASKETBALL ONLINE REGISTRATION -  It is a requirement of all players playing in the Harbour Basketball Competition that they must be registered through the Harbour Basketball Registration system as well as through our AJHS registration.

 Please note that the Harbour Basketball Online Registration is in addition to completing and submitting this AJHS Basketball Registration form.

REGISTRATION FEE - $180.00 (This includes Harbour Basketball registration and membership, Glory League Fee, mouthguard and use of AJHS Basketball Singlet). Please note that if a basketball singlet is not returned at the end of the season or is damaged students will be charged $80.00 to cover replacement of the singlet.

COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEE - $25.00 (One payment of $25 will be charged regardless of the number of sports played)

REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE - Friday 8th March 2024

REGISTRATION FEE DUE BY $90.00 deposit due Friday 8th March 2024 with remaining $90.00 due Friday 5th April 2024. 

REFUND POLICY - Once teams are named there will be no refunds of Registration Fees or the Sports Administration Fee unless an approved medical certificate is provided.

For this length of time and at this level of competition each school team requires a coach and a manager.
As a coach you will be required to take a minimum of one training per week and also be available at the games. For team training's the school's facilities would be available for use before or after school. Standard training times are between 7:00am - 8:30am in morning or 3.30pm to 4.30pm after school.

Managers are required to organise the team, ensuring all players and parents/caregivers are aware of game times and trainings and also arranging for a person to do scorebench duty at each game. Ideally the Manager will also attend games to support the coach and team.
 
Teams will not be entered into competitions unless we have suitable support for the team.
Without parent volunteers it is impossible for teams to participate in the competition so if you are available to assist with either role please tick the appropriate box on the form.

To ensure your child is registered for the college basketball competition, please complete the following form and submit by Friday 8th of March 2024. Please also ensure that the registration fee of $180.00 plus $25.00 Administration Fee is paid by this date.
