Dynamic Tape Workshop (May 27-28, 2023)
Hello fellow ACM members, chiropractors, chiropractic students, physio and musculoskeletal therapist! On the back of the successful FICS seminar in November last year, we are honoured to bring you Malaysia’s first certified Dynamic Tape seminar! We found that we are well versed, as chiropractors and musculoskeletal therapists in using various kinesiology tapes but not as much with Dynamic Tape!

Dynamic Tape is the original bio-mechanical tape that is designed to alter movement patterns while absorbing load and re-injecting that energy back into movement. Dynamic Tape aims to encourage appropriate loading and restore movement choice. Dynamic Tape revolutionised therapeutic taping by introducing a range of strongly elastic tapes with different grades of strength, stretch and recoil. With correct taping applications we can mechanically resist/decelerate or assist motion thereby reducing the load on the muscles, tendons, ligaments or associated structures that would normally have to control those forces.

What makes us different?
Biomechanics is defined as “the study of the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms.” Dynamic Tape has been designed to allow an external force to act upon the levers of the body. If a genuine force can be applied (and this requires correct application), the forces that the body must generate are modified accordingly. For example, if Dynamic Tape can provide a decelerating force to someone’s follow through in their tennis serve, the load on the muscles, capsule and ligaments of the body normally charged with decelerating the arm is reduced by the same amount of force that the tape contributes.

What makes Dynamic Tape different to kinesiology tape?
Is made from very different materials stretching in all directions rather than just longitudinally
Has many times the resistance and recoil likened to a bungee cord whereas kinesiology tapes and nylon tapes have gentle resistance to lift the skin
Stretches much further and doesn’t have a solid endpoint in the same way as athletic or kinesiology tapes do. This allows Dynamic Tape to be applied in the shortened position to maximise the ‘bungee’ effect and still permit full movement
Work mechanically, altering movement patterns while absorbing load and re-injecting that energy back into movement, all without limiting range of motion. Kinesiology tapes are designed to work neurophysiologically, attempting to alter pain perception, muscle activity or circulation via contact with and lifting of the skin.
