2023 ASC Region 5 Student Competition Code of Conduct Agreement
PREAMBLE. The “Other Education” is an important part of every experience while enrolled at a
University. Students will have many opportunities to participate in off-campus activities where
they will be ambassadors for their University and their Department. This CODE is designed to
set a level of expectation for every student while participating in the Associated Schools of
Construction Student Competition activities. By signature below, the student is verifying that
they have read and understand the CODE and hereby agree to abide by the expectations set forth
therein.
 
GENERAL. While participating in the student competition activity sanctioned by the Associated
Schools of Construction (ASC) and my University, I will remember that I am a representative of
the University. I will conduct myself so as to bring pride to the ASC Student Competition by my
appearance, my words and my actions. In addition to this code of conduct, I will abide by all of
the ASC, University, and Departmental rules, regulations and guidelines.

USE OF A VEHICLE.  1. I will never drive while I am under the influence of alcohol or drugs nor will I permit someone else to do so either. 2. I will not drive when I am excessively tired or have gone without sleep for an extended period of time. 3. I will never drive without having insurance coverage as required by the State of jurisdiction. 4. If I am permitted to drive a University vehicle, I will abide by all University rules regarding such travel. *
USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL  1. I will obey the laws of the jurisdiction where I am located and abide by the University’s established rules of alcohol use. 2. I will not drink or possess alcohol if underage, nor will I promote, condone or associate with underage alcohol consumption. 3. If I am of legal age and choose to drink, I will drink responsibly, in moderation and never to excess. I will not provide or promote alcohol to anyone who may be underage, nor will I promote or associate with irresponsible drinking by others. 4. I will not use, possess, or distribute illegal drugs, nor will I promote, condone or associate with the use, possession or distribution of illegal drugs by others.   *
RESPECT  1. I will not engage in, condone or associate with verbal or physical behavior that, according to reasonable sensibilities, stigmatizes or victimizes an individual on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or disability. 2. I will respect the feelings and rights of the opposite sex. I will not make unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that may create an intimidating, hostile, or demeaning environment for others. *
 1. I will not engage in, condone, or associate with any intentional or reckless behavior that poses a potential danger of physical harm to others or to myself. 2. I will not engage in, condone, or associate with any intentional or reckless behavior that poses the potential of damage to property. 3. I will not engage in, condone, or associate with any action that may injure, degrade, harass, or disgrace any person. 4. I will not engage in, condone, or associate with the unauthorized use, possession or storage of any weapon while participating in a ASC/University sponsored activity. The term weapon includes but is not limited to: gun, rifle, pistol, bow, dynamite cartridge, bomb, grenade, mine, bowie knife, dirk, dagger, sword, num-chucks, sling shot, leaded case, switch-blade knife, black jack, metallic knuckles, stun gun, and knife with a blade five or more inches in length. It also includes chemicals such as “mace,” “pepper spray” or tear-gas (if used in an illegal manner). 5. I will abide by all rules and regulations of my University pertaining to expected student conduct as set forth in the University’s Student Rules. 6. I will abide by rules as established by the Faculty Sponsor during the trip. 7. I will be on time. I understand that tardiness affects the entire team. *
In the event that I fail to abide by the provisions of this code of conduct, I understand that one or more of the following sanctions may be imposed by the competition coordinator responsible for the event. 1. Dismissal from the student competition. 2. Being sent back to campus early at my own expense. 3. Any other sanction permitted by an ASC Conduct Committee and/or University Student Rules. The ASC Conduct Committee shall be made up of the competition coordinator and 2 representatives from participating schools as selected by the coordinator. *
I acknowledge that hotel rooms include a full-size non-locking refrigerator and a fully stocked honor bar. Further, I acknowledge that any in room purchases from the "honor bar", room service, movies or other in-room purchases are the responsibility of the student. *
