Under 9s - Boys & Girls Cricket - Age 6 to 9 (School Year 2, 3 and 4)
– Softball
Time to register for U9s cricket here at the Neston Club , the season starts again with coaching on Friday 21st April 5pm to 6pm 2023 (and then each Friday at the same time)
Coaching sessions and Matches in 2023 are all free thanks to our very generous sponsorship from PDQ, iTrain Legal, Johnson & Johnson Vision, Carpenters and Dow Schofield Watts.
However to receive the free coaching and to play for Neston Cricket your child does need to be a member of the Neston Club for the whole of the membership year April 2023 through to March 2024*
(Membership also entitles your son/daughter to also play the other sports - Hockey, tennis and racketball at the club)
The Club’s training sessions are supervised by our trained
coaches, assisted by volunteers. Initially, the focus is on the basic
skills of the game, i.e. hitting, bowling, throwing, catching and stopping the
ball. As the children become more proficient, they play mini games where they
can practice executing the skills they have learned. The emphasis is on the
children having fun and developing a passion for the sport. Generally speaking,
we have children of the same age training together, but, as the age groups are
sometimes quite large, we do seek to have players of similar ability training
together as this offers the best cricket development opportunity for all.
There are two U9s mixed gender league teams playing in the
Wirral junior league on Sunday mornings, and we are looking at running a
friendly mixed gender team.
We have a team management group for one of our sides, but we urgently need a couple of parents to run the other league side and plus a couple of parents to run the friendly team. Please put yourself down on the form to help if you can, it's great fun and it is very rewarding. If you have any questions about helping pls message Bern Thorne on 07901 518597 or Dave Collyer on 07464 401315
The development of Girls cricket is a strategic priority for
the Club, and we have a promising cohort of young U9 girls and we are currently
looking at the possibility of running a girls side in a Cheshire girls league.
Cricket Kit - we have some exciting news coming along in Mid March so please don't buy anything new for now. We will be in touch.
Last year we piloted an interclub U9 softball 100
competition with 5 squads of 10 players taking part. It was highly enjoyable and very successful,
giving all our u9s a chance to play in competitive matches. We are planning to
develop this further this year and give even more children chances to play
cricket matches.
U9 Cricket training is not a drop and go session. A responsible adult must always remain on the club site.
Please submit one form for each child
