Co-Sponsor Form for Faiths 4 Climate Justice: A Global Multi-Religious Action
On 11 March, we held the biggest ever faith-based global day of action where we sounded the alarm for climate justice and demanded that our governments, faith institutions, and elected leaders respond in the ways that are necessary to stop the climate crisis.  People of all faiths around the world continue to be united by an urgent moral concern about climate change. The United Nations Convention on Climate change (COP26) in Glasgow, where governments meet to assess how far along they have come in meeting initial Paris Agreement emission targets, and to set new targets for the next five-year cycle in November 2021 is a crucial moment.

We know that the time for real action is now. Unmitigated climate crisis is creating widespread disasters around the world that can not be ignored. Faith communities globally, driven and moved by their beliefs, values, and morals, are united behind a platform that would address the climate emergency- Faiths 4 Climate Justice. The GreenFaith International community stands behind a sustainable, just recovery from COVID-19 that includes millions of green jobs, a rapid transition to 100% renewables away from fossil fuels, climate reparations from wealthy countries for damages that have been done and people impacted, and an immediate stop to new fossil fuel projects and deforestation. It is time for governments, banks, and investors to deliver. Grassroots people from diverse religions will not stand idly by.

Building on the success of 11 March and because of the importance of COP26, the GreenFaith International Network is planning a second global, multi-faith day of climate action over the period of 48 hours on 17-18 October 2021. We invite you to sign up below to be a Co-Sponsor of Faiths 4 Climate Justice 17-18 October Day of Action. We call up both governments and financial institutions to face up to this moral moment by coming up with real plans that measure up to it. This is our common home.

Here's what we stand for: Our vision:
On Sunday, 17 October, our temples, mosques, and churches will amplify a call for climate justice. At places of prayer globally, we’ll ring our bells, sing, pray, meditate, call the Azan, sound the shofar – whatever is true to our tradition. We’ll also unfurl banners over our facilities that call for climate justice and care for the vulnerable.

On the morning of Monday 18 October, we’ll take our faith into the streets and make sure our leaders hear from us. Dressed in religious garb, we’ll take actions such as delivering our demands to political and financial leaders, holding a prayer or meditation vigil outside government and bank offices, singing hymns about the climate, or bearing silent witness.
