The Membership Chair should be an inspiring, flexible individual who wants to lead the best dancer Delegates that DM has ever seen. The Membership Chair will be the face of DM to all of our dancer Delegates. They are responsible for keeping Delegates and their respective organizations informed and excited throughout the year. This position aligns with our long-term vision of improving the overall quality of our dancers, participants, and event itself. The Membership Chair needs to fully understand what DM at FSU stands for where we are headed in order to maximize the experience of every single person who invests their time, energy, and/or resources for the kids. The Membership Chair will work closely with the Recruitment Chair to better facilitate smaller organizations in their first years of our movement as they cross over into our membership program.
The Membership Chair will work underneath the Dancer Relations Director.
Responsibilities:
-Work with Dancer Delegates from a variety of organizations and lead weekly meetings in the Fall and Spring.
-Focus on retention and quality of dancers (we want dancers who want to come back every year, dancers that reach their full potential in terms of fundraising and fully understand the meaning of FTK).
-Create a positive atmosphere and energy within the FSU community to promote Dance Marathon in an exciting way.
-Brainstorm with the Delegates about their goals and help them get there; be ready to jump in whenever they need your help to make their visions a reality!
-Organize the items drive in the Spring.
-Give assistance in helping delegates plan their mini-marathons.
-In charge of Dancer check-ins throughout the entire year.
-Work closely with the Recruitment Chair to cater better to smaller/new organizations as they lead into the delegate program.
-Work closely with the Engagement Chair to ensure participation at events and that all participant deadline are met on time.
-Work closely with the Dancer Relations Director to plan fundraising incentives and pushes catered to each organization.
Requirements and Skills:
-Must be a full-time student at Florida State University with a GPA of 2.5 or above.
-Must be able to commit to this role through the entire year, including summer, fall, and spring until the next marathon ends and new management team is selected.
-Must not be studying abroad during Fall or Spring semesters.
-You’ve got strong communication skills and can communicate various types of messages effectively and energetically.
-You’re not afraid to speak to student organizations in person, through email, or on the phone.
-You’re a team player, ready to collaborate with the Executive Board to make this event as meaningful as it can be for everyone.
-You’re constantly thinking about things in terms of improvement; you have a ton of great ideas about how to make the Dance Marathon experience better for next year.
