The Joint Task Force (JTF) is comprised of professionals from the scientific community and the submarine cable industry mandated to develop and facilitate a strategy to combine submarine cable infrastructure and environmental sensing for real-time climate and ocean monitoring and earthquake and tsunami disaster mitigation. The JTF was established in 2011 by the UN International Telecommunications Union (ITU), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).

This document is for every person who wants to join the Joint Task Force SMART cables effort. Join us as we work towards better observing and understanding climate, ocean circulation and warming, sea level rise, and earthquakes and tsunamis.
