2020 Anthroposophical Conference of Taiwan
Invitation of 2020 Anthroposophical Conference of Taiwan
Dearest colleagues,
How have you been? Sending you the warmest greetings on behave of working group of Anthroposophical Conference of Taiwan (ACT).
This past year, we have faced very serious challenges brought about by the infections of COVID-19. Many countries, cities, enterprises, and schools ceased to operate, and global traffic has slowed. Though the situation is complex, by wearing masks to live our daily lives the children went to school as usual in Taiwan. The hard-won freedom from illness is something we cherish.
Many friends have been concerned about this pandemic time and have wondered if this year's Anthroposophical Conference of Taiwan would be affected by this epidemic situation. During the past few months, we kept actively and continuously liaising with our close overseas teachers. The working group of the ACT discussed this year's agenda and activities that could adapt to any possible emergencies that may be brought by the epidemic situation. The team is impressed by the growing social impacts and contributions of the "Taiwan Experience" to the world, and also observed more public reflections on accelerated damages of capitalism and the information industry. The epidemic challenge brought about the karmic destiny of mankind has made people reorient themselves and define "what is fundamental and important". The urges of the reconstruction of human hearts, social reconstruction, and spiritual learning are about to shed light.
The 2020 ACT working group will change the plan from the previous keynote by foreign Keynote speaker, and change it to a short talk with a moderator to guide groups to engage in a thematic discussion. Drawing on the vision of Anthroposophy, we want to invite ACT participants to reflect on Taiwan ’s history, culture, economy, and geography. The program has invited key persons from the three pillars of Waldorf Education, Anthroposophical Medicine, and Biodynamic Agriculture that have been developing in Taiwan for more than 20 years. The conference also invited pioneers in green/social enterprises, special educations, Art and Eurythmy therapy areas together for deeper conversation and exploration. There will be group discussion sessions for teachers, physicians, and farmers to share and discuss.
One question could be “How can we understand these momentous current events in the light of Anthroposophy?” What does Anthroposophy have to say about the pandemic situation? Another central question (as always) would be: how can we develop the capacity for listening to the folk soul of Taiwan? What are the phenomenon that can reveal this? These are questions without fixed answers but by opening ourselves to an inner active striving, we may be able to open a space where suggestions for future activity may echo. Certainly, Goethean observation is one capacity we must cultivate, and Goethean exercises will be practiced.
We cordially invite you again to participate in the Anthroposophical Conference of Taiwan, and look forward to working together as spiritual comrades, to work consciously together at this moment to create a society for the greater good.
