Trenton Special School District currently utilizes G Suite (formerly Google Apps for Education) for our Teachers, Administration and Staff members. This online platform, provided free of charge to educational entities by Google, includes services that allow TSSD users to perform daily activities more effectively. TSSD feels it is important to extend those online tools to students as well in order to increase the possibilities of classroom technology interaction and collaboration.
TSSD provides free access to G Suite for students from grades K – 12. A Google account/email address will be created for students to access G Suite digital tools. Once logged in, the tools and services that students will be able to access within G Suite include Google Mail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Google Drive, Google Classroom, Google Calendar and possibly other G Suite core services. Services may also be disabled depending on grade level and necessity. Example: Google mail may not be necessary for younger students and may be disabled for certain grade levels.
Further, we allow students to access APPROVED additional third-party services/apps with their Google Workspace for Education accounts. Our district technology administrator enables access to these third-party services with your student’s Google Workspace for
Education account, and authorizes the disclosure of data, as requested by the
third party services. These services are usually provided in the form of a Chrome
app or extension and are requested for installation by TSSD teachers for use as a classroom tool.
