WHAT IS THE ACTIVIST CAMP?
The camp is a four day- three night camp for high-school age youth leaders in DC, MD, and VA, who are interested in advancing justice for LGBTQ identified people! The camp is run by SMYAL, in partnership with the National GSA Network.

WHAT IS THE DC REGIONAL GSA NETWORK?
The DC Regional GSA Network builds the power of LGBTQ+ youth and Gay Straight Alliances across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan area to make schools and communities safer for all. We coordinate leadership trainings, regional summits and conferences, advocacy activities, activist camp, and a regional youth council (which you should be a part of!)

WHAT'S THE COST?
The Activist Camp is FREE! SMYAL covers all costs, including food, housing, and transportation.
 
WHO CAN GO TO ACTIVIST CAMP?
The Activist Camp is open to all students of high school age (approximately 13-18). While you do not have to identify as LGBTQ+, we will focus on how to enact change within the LGBTQ+ community, so a commitment to LGBTQ+ acceptance and allyship is a must!

We have 20 spots open for camp, and applications will be reviewed beginning June 1st, 2020.
 
WHEN'S THE APPLICATION DUE?
Applications close on June 1st, but we encourage students to apply before the deadline! The sooner you apply, the quicker we can release our accepted participants. If you need to know whether you will be accepted to the camp before July, please indicate this in the question section of the application and submit your application as soon as possible.
