What questions do you have as we explore whether California can create a future-ready workforce?
CalMatters and the Milken Institute are teaming up to host a series of virtual discussions about California’s response, recovery, and resilience strategies in a post-COVID landscape, and what the “Future of Work” means now to educators, employers, college students and cities statewide.

Does California need a Workforce Development plan? Other nations have mapped out the workforce needs of the economy and the alignment with educators and training programs. The need for clarity and efficiency is especially important as California faces a hollowing out of middle class jobs, jobs lost to automation or reduced by a gig-economy, racial discrimination and a deep recession. This is not a new issue for California.

Join us in discussion with our moderator, Mikhail Zinshteyn, higher education reporter at CalMatters, as he explores what is being done by state and local authorities, universities and private employers — and how it must change to meet the rapidly evolving need.

This discussion will be structured around our participants. We’d love to hear from you before we meet.
