Days:
We offer programs Wednesday through Friday, though set aside Thursdays and Fridays for public schools during our peak season. When it says "Reserved for large School Groups", we mean a minimum of 25 students.
Times:
We recommend classes stay for the whole school day if possible, but ask for a minimum length of 2 hours.
Fees:
The fee for any length of program is $2/FCPS student and $5/non-FCPS student.
Programs:
Which research project you assist with will depend on the season and, for some, the day of week (Amphibian Monitoring is limited to only Thursdays).
Please pick your top 3 preferred dates and times for your program. The listings are "day of week, month/date (max # of students we can accommodate that day*).
As a reminder, the seasonal timing for our different research projects is:
Grassland Restoration: early-October to early-March
Insect Investigation: late-April to early-October
Waterfowl Behavior: late-November to late January
Vernal Pool Monitoring (limited to 50 students): mid-February to early-April
BudOut Phenology: late February - mid May
*We are limited in terms of staff and equipment. If you have a group of more than 75 students, we will discuss options with you once you've submitted this request!
