It seeks to profile the contemporary role of customary law and institutions – kgosi, ‘traditional leaders’, ‘chiefs’, ‘customary authorities’ in the allocation and governance of land rights in customary tenure settings across fourteen of the sixteen different countries which are members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
