DCMS Choir 2023-2024 Sponsorship Form

The DeSoto Central Middle School Choir Booster Club is designed to help fund events and trips for the DeSoto Central Middle School Choir program. The choir is under the direction of Mrs. Kimberly Hunsucker, who is in her 9th year of teaching, and is made up of 120 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Those students make up five different choirs: 6th Grade, Treble Choir, Male Choir, Women's Chorale, and Treble Ensemble.

The students sing at local events as well as participate in honor choirs throughout the state of Mississippi. The choir has also performed “The National Anthem” at sporting events such as the Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Redbirds.

There were 13 students who made the 2022 Mississippi MMEA/ACDA All-State Honor Choir. The 7th and 8th grade choirs have attended multiple competitions in various states, competing against schools from across the country. In March of 2020, the Mixed Choir placed 2nd at “Festival Disney” in Orlando, Florida. In April of 2023, the choir placed 1st in the Women’s division in Gatlinburg, TN along with receiving a superior rating. In years past, the choir has performed in St. Louis, Atlanta, and Chicago all receiving superior ratings with a few wins. As I’m sure you can imagine, the cost for these trips can add up, music alone can cost over $3,000/year.

For the 2024 MMEA/ACDA All-State Convention, the DCMS Choir was selected to showcase during one of the evening performances. This is a huge accomplishment for a middle school choir. This is only the 2nd time a middle school has been chosen to perform. We would like to make this as cost free as possible to the students, this includes needing funds to provide transportation, lodging, and meals. Please consider becoming a sponsor to help the choir not only in this trip, but in all the many needs they have.
