Volunteer Form for Loudoun's Blue Ribbon Showcase
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for this year's Blue Ribbon Showcase at the Loudoun County Fair. We have many jobs, big and small, home-based or on site, and for all skill levels.  Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age. This year's county fair takes place from July 23 to July 27.  Entry drop off and judging takes place the weekend prior to the fair.

July 17 and/or July 19 - Hall setup and Preparation
July 20 and July 21 - Drop Off Weekend
July 21 - Judging
July 28 and July 30 - Tear down and post fair cleanup
July 24 - July 25 - Showcase Hosts
Dates TBD - Equipment and Supplies Inventory

Assignment Descriptions:
  1. Setup and Preparation. Prepare for drop off weekend. The exhibit hall is cleaned and prepared for entry drop off. Tables and display materials are set up Identify sections in the hall for all entries with printed signage and dividers. Decorate all entrances for visibility. Install signage around the Sykes Hall building to keep lines to a minimum.
  2. Drop Off Weekend.  Jobs include check in entries, assist exhibitors to properly label their entries with the correct entry tags, help exhibitors locate the correct area for their entry, organize exhibits in the proper areas. Install fair directional signage around the fairgrounds.
  3. Judging Assistants. Assistants help judges identify entries to judge and records the scores assigned. Assistants will also help attach the correct ribbons to winning entries.
  4. Showcase Hosts.  Hosts are needed the week of fair to help answer questions about the showcase and general fair questions.
  5. Tear Down. All equipment, tables, display materials are cleaned and placed in storage. Assist with exhibitor entry pickups. Discard all perishable entries.
  6. Equipment Inventory. This usually takes place before and after the fair.  Dates shall be posted in advance.
  7. Home-based assistance. Assignments may be sewing, laundry, ironing, laminating signs, sorting and stuffing entry tags, etc.
