Gaining Ground 2024 High School Farm Team Interest Survey
Each summer from late June through mid-August, Gaining Ground farm in Concord hosts high school students on Wednesday and Saturday mornings -- rain or shine, hot or cold -- from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. High School Farm Team volunteers receive direction from our farmers and then work independently with other peers in the fields. (Community service hours can be approved upon request.) In each session, after completing some field work, students gather for a brief lesson and discussion about the injustices embedded within the food system and how we can build power to dismantle what is harmful and create a world where we all can thrive. High School Farm Team is a great way to meet other high school students, enjoy physical work outdoors, learn about the many tasks involved in raising healthy, sustainably grown produce for hunger relief, and dig into the mechanisms that cause folks to experience food insecurity in the first place. Please fill out all fields below if you are interested in participating.

Which weeks of the summer are you available to participate? (check all that apply) Note: Farm Team meets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Having an idea of how often you can attend is very helpful to the farmers' ability to plan for the summer. If you are only planning to attend the minimum six sessions, please indicate that intention so that we can better predict how large of a group to expect from session to session. We encourage attending as often as possible, and also, it is totally fine to only come six times, if that is what works best for you!

In each session, after completing some field work, students gather for a brief lesson and discussion about the injustices embedded within the food system and how we can build power to dismantle what is harmful and create a world where we all can thrive. What topics about farming, food justice, land justice, the food system, and/or social inequities would you be interested in discussing this summer?
Thanks for your interest. We'll get back to you shortly to discuss further details of High School Farm Team participation. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to Maddie at maddie@gainingground.org.
