However, research stated that elite sport organizations are often reluctant to embrace new technology innovations.

Entrepreneurship in sport involves individuals, communities and organizations with both capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage new ideas related to sport. Social issues as an aspect of sport innovation concern grassroots and ‘sport for all programs’ with an overall aim of contributing to greater social justice and equality in sport. This dynamic aspect of sport innovation includes opportunities for new marginalized social groups to participate and compete in sport It could also be through new methods of motivating
and including larger groups of people in sports, such as local leisure, health and physical activity campaigns.

The management and leadership aspect implies sport innovation aimed at improving the management of sport, either commercially or in local, grassroots sport. Innovation in sport management and leadership involves working towards solving global issues related to corruption in sport, commercialization of sport, sport policy issues and organizational
issues such as crisis management.

Unethical innovation includes the aspect of sport innovation that deals with the creation of new ways of cheating and gaining unfair competitive advantages in sport. These sport innovations are often medical and/or technological. While
innovations in sport medicine are often highly productive and valuable to the treatment of injuries in athletes, some use them to gain unfair and unethical advantages in sport competitions. Every year new doping scandals in elite sport are highlighted in the media.
