FLAM 2022 at Washington University in St. Louis | Call for Proposals

                                                                       2022 FLAM Conference
Hybrid Conference on October 7-8, 2022
Conference Theme: Embracing Our Diversity Through Languages

The Foreign Language Association of Missouri invites proposals for presentations for its annual conference to be held at Washington University in St. Louis and online on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8, 2022.

We welcome proposals for 20-minute presentations and 50-minute workshops.

Those 20-minute sessions are designed to give a brief description of an innovative approach in teaching, a successful lesson, activity or tech tool. Workshops allow for in-depth presentation of theoretical and/or practical information and interaction with the audience.

The conference will use a hybrid model, in which attendees will have the option of participating in the conference either in person or virtually.

We are particularly looking for some presentations in the following areas:
1. Multiple languages represented in presentations to reach a greater audience, including less commonly taught languages and English as a Second Language
2. Best Practices (implement target language, modes of communication, grammar use in context, feedback)
3. Developing interculturality and increasing understanding of culture (through products, practices & perspectives, & authentic resources)
4. Social justice, diversity and inclusion in the language classroom
5. ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, Can-do statements, and Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs)
6. Technology tools and E-Learning
7. World Languages and ESL for Special Interest Groups (elementary, low-income, rural schools, department of one, special needs, etc.)
