Alternative Spring Break Application
This is the application form for the Alternative Spring Break program for this coming March 16-20th. This is the first ever University of Iowa School of Library and Information Science Alternative Spring Break project. Attached to the email that delivered the link to this form are several pages of projects from the following institutions: the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD, Duke University Medical Center Library & Archives in Durham, NC, the Cleveland Clinic Library in Cleveland, OH, and the Mayo Clinic Plummer Library in Rochester, MN. Please look through the documents and determine which location and project you are most interested in. Duke and the Cleveland Clinic each have one project, the Mayo Clinic has two, and the NLM has several. I have arranged them all on one PDF for your review. Three to five students will be selected to participate in this program this year.

After choosing a project and submitting your application, if you are selected you will be given $1,000 to assist with travel and lodging expenditures. You will be expected to arrive at the specified location at 9:00am on Monday, March 16th and be prepared to work as a full-time intern for the week. After the selection of the winners and prior to your arrival at the respective library, Dr. Zimmerman will introduce you to your mentor via email and be available to assist in travel arrangements.

The attached application is due by the end of the business day next Monday, December 9th, and the results will be announced by the end of that week.

Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Zimmerman with any questions.

Good luck!
