Travel Instructions & Directions (N/A for virtual retreats):
The retreat is in Munds Park, Arizona, nestled in the ponderosa pines between Sedona & Flagstaff- which makes it particularly picturesque. The exact address of the Pinewood Cabin is given upon approved application and full payment. Registration begins at 3pm on Sunday, Sept. --, and departure is by 11am sharp on Thursday, Sept. --. You will be required to provide your own transportation to the retreat site ("the cabin"), and to any points of recreation. (Should you choose to visit sites such as the Grand Canyon, be aware that there are park fees associated with such excursions that are not included in the retreat cost, of course, but are fun "extras" to choose from during your "play times" over the week.)
Flying: There is a major airport in Phoenix (Sky Harbor) with direct flights from many departure cities across the country. There are also two smaller regional airports (Sedona & Flagstaff). See maps below. Many people find Sky Harbor (Phoenix) to be the easiest airport of the three, due to greater availability and flexibility in daily arrivals and departures. For this reason, Sky Harbor (Phoenix) is the recommended destination hub for air travel. (Even though it's often *really warm* in Phoenix, Arizona (Sky Harbor), you'll be amazed at what a difference an elevation of 7000ft can make!) Rental cars for the weekend should be easy to come by, especially from Sky Harbor - but reservations are always recommended. (Pro-tip: Especially for those flying great distances, travel insurance to compensate you for any travel inconveniences, like flight delays, cancellation, etc, is often a wise choice.)
Train: Amtrak has a line, the Southwest Chief Train, that runs through Flagstaff. Contact the administrator if you travel by train. You will need to arrange for a rideshare pick-up such as Uber or Lyft from the train station to Munds Park. You are encouraged to rent a car if you want access to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and downtown Flagstaff (these destinations come highly recommended, especially after the retreat time has come to a close.)
Driving Instructions: From the North (e.g., Las Vegas): The city of Flagstaff is at the junction of I-17 and I-40. Munds Park is 21 miles South of Flagstaff on I-17, exit 322: Pinewood Blvd.
From the South (e.g., Phoenix): Munds Park is 126 miles NORTH (and many degrees cooler!) from Phoenix on the I-17, exit 322.
For those who wish to extend their stay in the area after the retreat has ended, there are several lovely resorts available in and around the Flagstaff & Sedona areas. Again, reserving ahead is wise!
