Program Overview
The La Cañada Engineering Club is hosting a fun and engaging summer camp where students from 4th - 12th grade can attend. Younger students will use an EV3 Lego set to overcome design challenges and compete in a sumo competition. For older students, they will learn how to use electronic powered tools in our workshop, and program a robot to move autonomously. Here, students will develop a creative mind through the engineering challenges.

July 12 - July 16

Schedule 4-8th grade
Day 1 (7/12):
On the first day, there will be an introduction to FLL and what it is. Students will get to play with Legos and an EV3 set and make a starter robot.

Day 2 (7/13):
On the second day, we will introduce them to the Lego sumo challenge, EV3 programming, and let them research and design attachments that will provide advantages in the Lego sumo matches.

Day 3 (7/14):
On the third day, students will continue to work on the EV3 robot and will be able to test their robot in practice sumo matches.

Day 4 (7/15):
On the third day, students will continue to work on the EV3 robot and will be able to test their robot in practice sumo matches.

Day 5 (7/16):
On the final day, students will compete in the Lego sumo ring with an autonomous program or teleoperated driving. The winner will receive recognition and reword at the end of the day.

Schedule 9-12th grade
Day 1 (7/12):
On the first day, the students will get an introduction to what FTC is, and the rules about the game. From there, a quick demonstration about the previous year's robot will be shown. Finally, they will get to play around with the robot, and drive it.

Day 2 (7/13):
On the second day, we will give a tour around our workshop and the safety procedures necessary when using the tools. Students will get to learn how to use each tool in the shop, and get a hands on experience. Tools such as the bandsaw, drill press, table saw, and more will be presented.

Day 3 (7/14):
On the third day, everyone will get to create a small project using the materials available, and all the skills learned from the previous day.

Day 4 (7/15):
On the fourth day, students will learn how to program a robot to move autonomously with JAVA.

Day 5 (7/16):
On the fifth day, students will continue to program a robot to move autonomously with more advance pathing with non linear motion.
