Stories can influence a day. Days shape lives.
We aspire to reach Storytellers from across the world to create a mini film that could create a lasting positive impression.
Welcome 👋
Mafia Weekend CIC invites you to join a world-wide film competition to capture the diverse experiences of people's daily interaction with the natural world. Whether it's cycling to work, birdwatching in nature reserves, or gardening at home - we are all, in some way, connected to a story from the land.
CRITERIA
Films must:
- Respond to the theme: 'Stories of the Land.'
- The film must be 2-5 minutes
- All ages, experience levels and abilities are welcome!
- All Equipment welcome - Smartphone camera, old camcorder or 4K Sony - the camera doesn't matter!
PRIZES 🏆
1st Prize: 💰 £150 for the favourite film
2nd Prize: 🌱1 Year subscription to Mosaic Re-wilding Adoption
3rd Place: 50% Discount on a Mafia Weekend course
All films will be considered and uploaded onto Mafia Weekend CIC's YouTube and social media channels. All contributors will be granted a %20 discount to Mafia Weekend Events & Courses.
QUESTIONS TO INSPIRE YOU:
How does the natural environment impact the lives of your or your family?
What secrets lie hidden beneath the surface of a seemingly ordinary location?
How are your surroundings affected by environmental issues, such as climate change, sustainability, or biodiversity?
How does your chosen land influence the culture, traditions and folk tales of your home town?
Can you tell a story that showcases the interplay between urban development and the natural world?
AWARDS
Films will be judged on:
- Collaboration: how does the film show that the creators have engaged with their community?
- Authenticity: does the film feel authentic and honest to the storyteller's voice?
- Creative originality: Does the film take creative risks or inspire a feeling of beauty?
