A pilgrimage is a journey to a particular place to hear from God in a particular way. Different from a vacation (though they're often still fun!), a pilgrimage is all about posture—a pilgrim travels to learn deeper truths about God, the world, and him/herself. I like how one writer has put it: "Vacations are there to make you feel good and to escape. Pilgrimages are there to remind you that you are dust and to dust you will return."
