Orton-Gillingham Training Registration Summer 2021
Edison is pleased to offer Orton-Gillingham training sessions. Orton-Gillingham is an approach, not a program, and refers to a structured, sequential, multisensory technique developed by Dr. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham along with their colleagues.

The Associate Level course (30 hours; prerequisite:  Classroom Educator) continues to develop the trainees understanding of and the ability to teach the following instructional topics:

- The rationale for using the Orton-Gillingam Approach
- The neurological structure of dyslexia
- The Orton-Gillingham Approach
- The morphological structure of the English language
- Formal and informal assessment
- Development of the Orton-Gillingham lesson plan for 1:1 instruction

The Certified Level 1 course (50 hours each part for an accumulated total of 100 hours; prerequisite OGA Associate Membership)

- Understanding the Effects of Dyslexia
- Phonological/Phonemic Awareness
- Alphabet Awareness
- Intermediate Phonic/Spelling Rules & Generalizations
- Advanced History of the English Language
- Advanced Morphology
- Advanced Grammar
- Writing
- Oral Reading
- Reading Comprehension Instruction
- The Certified Lesson Plan

This online training combines synchronous and asynchronous learning.
