Please use this form to request an after-school club for your child. Be aware that space in some clubs is limited and enrollment is on a first come / first served basis. Fill out a separate form for each child. These after-school clubs are paid for by your PTA from funds we raise. We kindly request that all families pay a $25.00 registration fee. This onetime payment covers any and all clubs. Some clubs like instrumental music may have an additional cost for equipment such as mouthpieces and/or music book. PROGRAMS OPEN TO ALL GRADES AND ALL LEVELS OF ABILITY. We reserve the right to modify our club schedule with ample notice, if necessary. All students must adhere to Dock Street School and NYC Department of Education rules governing bahavior.

MONDAY CLUBS

Monday, Session 1 (Start Date: Nov 4): 2:30pm - 4:00pm (Choose one)

Guitar -Students will be taught basic to intermediate Guitar techniques by a professional music teacher from Brooklyn Music School. This program is for 20 weeks and culminates in a recital performance in the Spring. Guitars are provided by Dock Street School. Please be aware that there may be some material costs.

DJ Club: Have fun learning how to manage the wheels of steel in this exciting onsite afterschool club. Students will learn the techniques used by a top professional DJ in order to turn a party out.

WEDNESDAY CLUBS

Wednesday, Session 1 (Start Date: Nov 6): 2:30pm - 4:00pm (Choose one)

Debate Club - Debate Club provides the highest-quality debate opportunities that develop our students into informed, engaged, and courageous citizens. The Debate Club empowers our students while immersing them in public speaking, research techniques, civics, law and ethics studies.

Drumming/Percussion - Students will be taught basic to intermediate percussion instrument techniques by a professional music teacher from Brooklyn Music School. Percussion instruments include drums, bongos, congas, others may be available. This program is for 20 weeks and culminates in a recital performance in the Spring.Instruments are provided by Dock Street School. Please be aware that there may be some material costs.

Thursday, Session 1 (Start Date: Nov 7): 2:30pm - 4:00pm (Choose one)

Financial Literacy / Entrepreneurs Club - If you like “Shark Tank,” this club is for you! Students select a “business idea,” develop a business plan and make a “pitch” presentation on the last day. They even create their own website (no coding required) and design their own business cards! Students enhance their problem-solving skills, develop business savvy, and cultivate a strategic mindset as future leaders. Kids may also be exposed to the workings of the financial markets.

STEM Club I - Technical skills that will be taught include: electronics, circuitry, soldering, and cardboard fabrication. Everything will be connected to the theme of Environment and Climate. Program to include light coding projects utilizing Arduino kits.
