Legacy Garden Tree Fundraiser 2023
Thank you for supporting the Legacy Garden by ordering trees!
The trees are expected to arrive at the Farm Centre in May/June 2023.  All trees are 100cm-150cm tall and are $30/tree + HST.  Grape vines are $14 each +HST.  These trees and vines are proven to be disease resistant and cold hardy.  You can pay by sending an e-transfer to info@peifarmcentre.com, or bringing cash to the Farm Centre or cheque to 'The Farm Centre Association.'  Payment should be made within a week of ordering!  Trees are to be picked up at the Farm Centre in May/June!

Apples

Freedom (semi-dwarf): These apples were given the name Freedom to represent its freedom from apple scab. Low maintenance, disease-resistant, vigorous, good flavour, and a good keeper... all in one apple! Freedom is the perfect variety for growing organically, for pick-your-owns, backyards, and community orchards. Large red skinned apple, similar to McIntosh in flavour with sweet, subacidic, sprightly flavour and juicy white flesh. Harvest in late September.  Requires a pollinator that blossoms around the same time.  Medium time for blossoms. Will come in May/June 2023 1 meter tall!  $30+HST (Less than 10 Dwarf left)

Semi-Dwarf
Dwarf

Florina (semi-dwarf): Florina, aka Querina, has become quite popular in continental Europe. Florina is a wonderful all-round apple for the backyard offering both rich flavour and easy care. The sweet, crisp fruits it produces are perfect right off the tree but also keep a few months. They are resistant to scab, fireblight, mildew, and rosy apple aphid. Harvest in early October. Late blooming time.  Requires a pollinator. 30cm tall $22+HST

SOLD OUT: Royal Red Honeycrisp: This is a sport (a chance discovery in a Columbia basin orchard) of Honeycrisp, featuring the same great flavor as its parent. The rich vibrant red colour of its skin makes it distinct and attractive, and is touted for its ability to be stored longer than the original. Beyond the high colour factor, initial tests indicate that it’s improved storage characteristics may be equally important in improving pack-out. 100 cm tall. $35/tree+HST. Less than 10 left!

Grape
SOLD OUT: Swenson White: Swenson White is a green table grape with large berries of golden-white colour with thick skin and firm flesh. The berries have very intense floral aromas. Clusters are medium to wide and loose. Hardy to zone 4b and resists -35 °C without any protection. Vigorous and resistant to most diseases of the vine $14/vine +HST

SOLD OUT: Pionnier: Pionnier is a blue table grape with medium sized, spherical berries. It displays aromas of Saskatoon berry and Strawberry. Small to medium conical and compact to moderately compact clusters. Very vigorous and hardy to zone 4b (-32 ° C). Ideal to eat fresh and/or make an excellent juice. $14/vine +HST Only 1 left!

SOLD OUT: Brianna: Brianna is a green table grape with delicious grapefruit, tropical pineapple and floral flavour. Very sweet. Particularly tasty. Maturity of the grapes (harvest) mid-September. Hardy to -30 °C up to zone 4b. Vigorous and easy to grow. Good disease resistance especially to mildew. A table grape with exceptional and incomparable flavour that will make you forget the seeds. Perfect to be eaten fresh, or to make juice. Can also be used to make a light table wine with tropical grapefruit aromas and floral characteristics. $14/vine +HST

SOLD OUT! Harrow Crisp (semi-dwarf): Similar taste to Harrow Gold with juicy flesh.  Good for fresh eating but is also known for being a great baking pear.  Requires a pollinator (Harrow Gold, Harrow Sweet).  Ripens in late August/early September.  Excellent resistance to fireblight.  Will come 100-150 cm tall. $30/tree+HST

SOLD OUT: Harrow Sweet (semi-dwarf): Harrow Sweet ripens approximately three weeks after Bartlett. This variety has shown very good resistance to fire blight. The fruit size and appearance are similar to that of Bartlett; however, Harrow Sweet does develop an attractive blush. Trees should be thinned to maintain fruit size and avoid biennial bearing. Requires a pollinator (Harrow Gold, Harrow Crisp).  Ripens in late September/early October.  Excellent resistance to fireblight.  Will come 100-150 cm tall. $30/tree+HST

SOLD OUT: Harrow Gold: An attractive yellow fruit, with good size (similar in size to Bartlett), smooth skin, fine texture, very good flavour with a good balance between sweetness and acidity, and exceptionally juicy. As with many other early season pears, the fruit will not store for very long (probably no more than 4-6 weeks) in common cold storage. Harrow Gold has excellent resistance to natural fire blight infections. Requires a pollinator (Harrow Sweet, Harrow Crisp).  Ripens in late August/early September.  Excellent resistance to fireblight. Will come 100-150 cm tall. $30+HST

SOLD OUT: PF-23: The Flamin’ Fury PF 23 peach tree bears large, firm, freestone yellow-fleshed peaches that won’t bruise easily. Not only does the tree bear high quality fruit with a beautiful crimson blush, but it is also moderately susceptible to bacterial leaf spot. Ripens in mid-August.  Self-pollinating. Will come 100-150 cm tall. $30+HST
