Pollinators- learn about the amazing animals (bees and butterflies) that help plants grow

Forestry –learn about the importance of trees, the insects and diseases that threaten our trees, and how to identify and care for them

Watersheds- learn about the streams and rivers of Charles County. We will investigate water quality and habitats to discover the treasures in our waterways

Nature Photography- learn how to capture the beauty of nature in film. You will learn photography and developing tips and tricks to help showcase the beauty you see. This would be a great opportunity to develop a number of fair entries

Nature Art- use natural artifacts to create various art projects. Another great opportunity to develop a bank of fair entries

Climate Change- investigate what is happening to the Earth’s climate, particularly sites in Charles County; and explore reasons why

Sustainable Living- explore factors that are putting pressure on our natural resources, and things we can do to help

Geocaching- learn how to use GPS technology to search out hidden caches in Charles County

Native and Invasive Species – explore Charles County’s outdoor spaces and discover how to identify plants and animals that belong, and those that don’t. Learn how to help restore native species and remove invasives

Hiking- discover some of the best trails in S. Maryland as we learn how to choose the right hiking gear and plan for safe outdoor explorations

Camping – experience the great outdoors at night from the comfort of a tent – learn how to plan for a safe and enjoyable camping experience

Fishing – learn how to fish the waters of Charles County

Birding – learn how to identify the bird species of our county

Amphibians – learn about the amphibian species in Charles County, and how to help care for them

Insects – learn about the insect species of Charles County, and how to help care for them

Gardening for Food- learn how to plant a vegetable garden at home

Gardening for Fun – learn how to plant a garden that will attract butterflies, and have some really fun plants to explore
