The Newcomer Entrepreneurship Hub (NEH) is a program for Greater Toronto Area-based newcomers to Canada interested in gaining knowledge, experience, and support in learning how to open a business in Canada. NEH supports newcomers in all stages of the business cycle through offering training by industry professionals, networking and testing opportunities, and business mentorship.

IMPORTANT: To be eligible for this program, you must be a Newcomer to Canada (Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee, or equivalent) and have an idea for a business. Status will be verified via an intake interview.

In partnership with Ryerson University’s Diversity Institute, and funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada this program offers aspiring entrepreneurs:

- FREE pre-incubation entrepreneurship training
- Mentorship by local entrepreneurs and other business professionals
- Guided workshops to help participants map out their ideas through the completion of a Business
  Model Canvas
- Opportunities for networking and connection to a larger, online NEH group for knowledge
  sharing, events, and resources
- Access to market-testing opportunities
- Internship, job-shadow, and employment support referrals
- Wraparound services

Eligibility:

- Must have Permanent Resident status or Convention Refugee status or Protected Persons status
- Refugee Claimants (with the exception of those that have initial approval from IRCC that they have become permanent residents and have a letter from IRCC as proof) will be waitlisted for future cohorts, dependent on change to their status.

If you are interested in our program but based on the above details do not qualify, please email Nora at nora@scaddingcourt.org to hear about the other entrepreneurial programs we offer and/or join the wait-list for future cohorts.

Applicants who meet initial eligibility requirements (based on this form) will be contacted in sequence for an in-person interview. Virtual interviews will be conducted by an NEH staff and verification of postal code and immigration status will be required at that time. Should you be chosen for an interview, please let us know if you have any accessibility needs for the interview and overall program.

*** PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing measures, this program has been modified for self-directed learning through an online platform.
