Dear Governor Lamont,  
We are living through the COVID-19 crisis that threatens our health and livelihoods, a preventable crisis that top scientists warned us about decades ago. In defiance of these warnings, we carried on ignoring the grave risks that we faced.

We now have the opportunity to prevent the next global disaster, climate change. We are witnessing the consequences of a failure to take preventative action.

Let us act now on climate change and prevent future human suffering on an unimaginable scale.  Funds in an economic recovery stimulus packages must be directed towards funding a CT Green New Deal that shifts our economy towards guaranteed jobs with fair pay for all and carbon neutrality in 10 years. Without this shift, we will face more frequent climate disasters, refugee crises, and food and water scarcity that will strain national support systems in a manner similar to COVID-19. We now know the pain of living through a global crisis; thus, we demand immediate action  to save us from climate disruption.
