Welcome! Applications to Sustainable Housing at California are due by 11:59PM PST on Sunday 9/12.
We currently have 2 ongoing projects. Our Solar Decathlon team is competing in the Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon competition to design and build a net-zero energy home. Our THIMBY project group is building a tiny house that will address social justice issues in the housing environment. Please check out our website at
https://shac.berkeley.edu for more information.
Both projects will be an intensive and highly rewarding experience - we are looking to form an interdisciplinary team of curious and motivated students, but no experience is necessary. Both undergraduate and graduate students of any major are encouraged to submit this form. By applying both classroom learned and outside knowledge to the creation of a highly efficient house that relies entirely on renewable energy sources, you will have the opportunity to convert abstract concepts into a tangible learning experience and product.
You will also apply to work on one of our three committees: internal affairs, outreach, and media. If you would prefer to work exclusively on a committee and not on a project, that is alright as well. Let's get to know you a bit better!
