JESD Reopening Parent Survey June 2020
Greetings Junction Elementary School District family,
The purpose of this survey is to deliver current information on plans to reopen in the fall, to gather information and to plan for program needs.  It is our desire to fully re-open normally but CA Safety and Health Guidelines may or may not allow it.  Recently, there has been guidance released in California regarding the safety measures to be in place for school reopening in the fall.  According to previous survey information, the vast majority of you want to return to school as 'normal' as long as the recent guidelines apply, the previous 'normal' does not exist.

Below are four scenarios that we are planning for; please read all of the descriptions, mark the grade(s) for your child(ren) and make your selection.  I am meeting every other week with Shasta Union High School District feeder schools to be as consistent as possible between us all.  Results from this survey will provide valuable input in developing a plan to reopen.  Expecting revisions and updates over the next few weeks, we will announce our plan in late July.

Thank you for your time.

Option A: Reopen as Close to Normal as Possible
This would include: daily disinfecting practices, daily temperature checks, visual checks, daily symptoms questions, fewer riders on the bus, possible staggered start/end times daily, cloth masks should be worn by adults, face shield alternate for adults, students are encouraged to wear cloth facemasks, instruction on hygiene, signage for distance, flows of traffic, frequent hand washing, maximizing classroom distance, minimizing mixing of students and others with limited volunteers and parent access.
Option B: Blended Model
A blended model of some sort of not yet determined.  Basically student population would be divided into groups and instruction would be partially site based with above considerations and partially distance learning/independent study.
Option C: Independent Study
Independent Study - Students enrolled in Independent Study are assigned a teacher responsible for 25-30 students.  Students are assigned work to complete across subject areas.  Students meet face to face with their teacher at least once every 21 days.  Work is submitted according to the same cycle.  Students not capable or not demonstrating benefit will be on a reduced timeline and meet with teacher more regularly, individually or very small grouping.
Option D: Modified Distance Learning
While the state has not clarified how distance learning may or may not change, there is a strong desire from Junction Elementary School District staff to make it more robust and implement more accountability from what was offered March - June 2020.
