Storytelling has a long, rich teaching and educational history. Here is a link to a National Geographic article that details oral storytelling history and traditions. Please read prior to completing your application.
https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/storytelling-and-cultural-traditions Each year, the Literacy Association of Tennessee awards Support Storytelling Grants. There is $1,500 available for these grants. Grants can be given to purchase books for read-alouds, to purchase writing materials for a publishing station, props to use for Readers Theater, or any other activity or project that promotes oral storytelling in some form.
Applications should total from $200-$350. The deadline for submissions is a rolling deadline. Applications are accepted until all the grant money is awarded. If awarded, a final report and pictures of project should be sent to
glc@literacyassociationtennessee.com.
