Trigram Playing Cards
I am exploring options for a prototype playing card deck based on the trigrams of I Ching.

Concept:

TRIGRAMS (八卦 or 팔괘) is a unique deck with suits represented by the eight trigrams of the I Ching or Bagua. Players can use all 108 cards, or use just 54 for a more normal game. Each card carries the English, Korean, and Chinese suit, trigram, and Poker equivalent markings.

The Early Heaven arrangement was chosen primarily for symmetry and as this originally started with a focus on the Korean flag elements.

The use of both Korean and Chinese follows the groups most associated with the trigrams as well. Korean was chosen for the 'prime' orientation mostly based on that being the main focus in the beginning. A balance with the Chinese side can be seen with some of the number cards. Traditional French pips help create a bridge for laying games such as Poker and other western games.
