During #metoo there were many stories about sexual abuse from all parts of society. At the same time, stories from the LGBTQI community were conspicuous only by their absence. Through the prosecution that has commenced against a former employee about sexual abuse in RFSL Stockholm’s premises, discussions about sexual abuse within our community have been updated. As Sweden’s biggest LGBTQI organisation we want to challenge the silence and now invite you to share your story. You might have been subject to sexual abuse in your local community or by someone you met in a dating app. You might want to share an experience that happened during Pride celebrations or during an activity at your RFSL branch. Even though there are sexual acts that are unlawful (for example touching someone’s body without consent or forcing someone to have sex) it’s your experience of having been exposed that matters.

- AIM AND USE -
The stories will be used to create an anthology which will be published by RFSL. The aim of the anthology is to create discussion and give people a platform to share their stories. We would like as many people as possible to be open with their stories, but you may, of course, remain anonymous. You also have the right to retract your story at any point before June 15. Contact editor Maria Niemi, maria.niemi@rfsl.se, if you have questions or want to retract your story. Your text will be edited by the editor for clarity, accessibility and legal reasons. A selection of the texts will be published.

- IF YOU NEED SUPPORT –
To talk about difficult experiences can be distressing and awaken old memories. If you are in need of support, RFSL has many support operations across the country where you can talk about your experiences with staff who are trained in crisis counseling and sexual violence. See where you can seek support at https://www.rfsl.se/stod.

- IF YOU HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR –
When a crime has been committed, a police report should be filed. But RFSL has, internally, strengthened its whistle blowing routines through an external whistle blowing system. If you suspect serious irregularities regarding people who are active within RFSL, you can file a report. Here you’ll find information on how to go about it: https://www.rfsl.se/en/aktuellt/information-about-external-whistleblower-system/
