WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Join Zach Weiss of Elemental Ecosystems (the American prodigy of Sepp Holzer) and Javan K. Bernakevitch of All Points Design for an in-depth look at an essential tool in every land stewards toolbox - hugelkultur. Popularized by Sepp Hozler, hugelkultur is a German word for “mound cultivation”. The basic premise, that changes in respect to use case and/or climate, is burying woody material to decompose in situ that can:
- be semi or fully self watering bed,
- create soil,
- and increase the verticality and functionality of your growing space.

From small backyard hugelkultur to mile long mounds, Zach and Javan will explain the fundamentals, dos and don'ts as well as look at in depth case studies to help be successful right out of the gate with this unique yet easy to use food and soil growing technique.

-- looking to upcycle waste organic resources into rich garden soil,
-- growing in climates that are water scarce or restricted,
-- dealing with excess woody material and don’t want to burn or truck materials off site, and
