The member (hereinafter referred to as "I") hereby affirms membership in the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association (hereinafter referred to as "OSCA"), a non-profit corporation democratically controlled and directed by its members and which relies upon the labor of its members to function. I accept and agree to be bound by all the terms and conditions contained in this OSCA Dining Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "contract" and "Agreement"). I understand that I will notify OSCA if I plan to withdraw from my assigned dining co-op and complete any necessary paperwork. This Agreement may not be modified by any general member to limit its scope in any way.

GOVERNANCE
1. I understand that OSCA operates on the assumption of collective responsibility. I, and the rest of the membership of OSCA, are ultimately responsible for the direction of OSCA, as outlined in the By-Laws, Continuing Policy, and the policy of my co-op. I accept the responsibility of working, collectively and as an individual, to alter policies, procedures, and practices where I perceive problems or areas that may be improved through the established channels of the By-Laws, Continuing Policy, and the membership contract.

2. I will abide by the decisions of my co-op, and will participate in co-op governance to my satisfaction. I recognize that my co-op has all governance and operational authorities except those reserved in the By-Laws, Continuing Policy, and contracts of OSCA, for OSCA as a whole, Oberlin College, and their contractors. Should punitive or protective measures be necessary due to my actions, my co-op may restrict the rights and privileges of my membership via expulsion. I will abide by the By-Laws, Continuing Policy, contracts of OSCA, and the decisions of the OSCA Board and its committees, including such occasions when my co-op policies conflict with them.

3. I understand that the primary way in which I exercise control over OSCA is through the election of, and discussion with, the Board of Directors. From time to time, I may also be asked to participate in All-OSCA Votes, in which my opinion will be welcomed and my vote will be counted with the same weight as that of every other OSCA dining member. In these capacities, I agree to act responsibly and to protect what I perceive to be the best interests of OSCA.

FINANCE
4. I understand that materials purchased by my co-op may not be used by any outside organization or non-member.

5. I will pay for the services that I receive through my membership in OSCA, as calculated according to the Continuing Policy of OSCA. If my co-op overspends, I will pay my share of that over-expenditure. If my co-op underspends, I will receive my share of the "savings." If my co-op's accounts receivable are significant enough to affect "the bottom-line" of my co-op's income statement, I will pay my share of the bad debt write-off. I understand that the paying-out of refunds is also contingent on the overall financial health of OSCA.

6. I understand that the people whom my co-op elects to positions of responsibility are directly accountable to the co-op in the execution of their position responsibilities, including spending. OSCA, however, reserves the right to claim primary accountability and authority over any chosen official should their actions significantly jeopardize the common good of OSCA or of a specific co-op.

7. I understand that if I am found to be using OSCA’s financial resources for my own personal gain (i.e. abusing charge account privileges, submitting false invoices or receipts for payment), then this will be grounds for expulsion from OSCA. I understand that I will be billed for any funds lost to OSCA because of this abuse.

8. I agree to pay all bills and charges due to OSCA promptly on or before the due date, including when payment plans modify the standard due dates. I also agree that I will be required to pay for the entire semester and will not be entitled to a refund if I leave or am expelled from OSCA at any point during the semester.

EDUCATION
9. I understand that OSCA maintains an educational function for the benefit of its members. I understand that these educational functions are designed to help me better understand and govern OSCA. I agree to attend mandatory OSCA educational trainings and support the educational initiatives of OSCA, as they are crucial to our continual success.

10. I have the right, upon reasonable notice and at reasonable times, to inspect the books and records of OSCA and my co-op.

11. I have the right, upon reasonable notice and at reasonable times, to request and be provided with a copy of OSCA's By-Laws, Continuing Policy, and major contracts with outside organizations or individuals. I understand that these documents are also provided for my co-op as a whole through the Board Representatives elected by my co-op, and are provided for general inspection in the OSCA Office(s).

CONFIDENTIALITY
12. I understand and agree that OSCA may keep confidential specific financial information as pertains to myself and other individual members of OSCA, past or present.

13. I understand and agree that OSCA may keep confidential specific information concerning individual personnel, including but not limited to the evaluation, salary decisions, and grievances, to protect the rights of Employees and student Staff, and OSCA against liability, I agree to keep any such information confidential.

OPERATIONAL FAIRNESS
14. I will not maliciously, carelessly, or through repeated or unmodified behavior, destroy OSCA property or OSCA-rented property. I will not damage OSCA or Oberlin College-owned ADA-related (Americans with Disabilities Act) equipment. Should I do so, I will pay for the replacement or repair costs (as well as any fines or fees) as deemed appropriate by OSCA. I understand that significant damages may be grounds for the termination of my membership. In addition, I will not repair, attempt to repair, or contract the repair of any OSCA- or Oberlin College-owned equipment, unless I am deemed the appropriate person to do so by OSCA or Oberlin College. I will not use this equipment unless I feel that it is necessary for my mobility.

15. I understand and agree that OSCA may pursue any legal remedies available to it to recover any amounts I owe to it. I agree, so that OSCA may collect any amounts I may owe, to allow a collection service to contact me by telephone at any telephone number associated with my account, including wireless telephone numbers, which could result in charges to me. A collection service may also contact me by sending email to any email address which I have provided. Contact methods may include using pre-recorded/artificial voice messages and/or the use of an automatic dialing device, as applicable.

16. I shall perform all of the jobs assigned to me through the policies of my co-op, the OSCA By-Laws, Continuing Policies, and OSCA's contracts with other organizations. I agree to attend all additional trainings for any position to which I am elected by my co-op.

17. In the spirit of cooperation, I will respond to emails and correspondence from OSCA, its Staff, and Employees respectfully and promptly.

THE MAINTENANCE OF AN OPEN AND SAFE COMMUNITY
18. I shall work to create a productive, inclusive, and harmonious community in my co-op, in consideration of both my own values and those of the other members of my community.

19. I shall follow OSCA's health and safety regulations and agree to act in a manner that would best uphold the health and/or safety of myself and others in my co-op. I shall not knowingly endanger the health and/or safety of myself or any other persons on premises owned or operated by OSCA.

20. I shall not knowingly intimidate or abuse other OSCA members. I shall not infringe upon the rights of other members of OSCA to take full advantage of their membership in OSCA in a way that they perceive to be safe, productive, and sound. I shall not knowingly abuse the decision-making principles of my co-op. I shall not knowingly infringe upon the basic human rights of any member of OSCA. I agree to abide by all policy adopted by OSCA regarding hate crimes, sexual harassment, and drugs and alcohol. Should I be notified that my behavior is categorized by any of the preceding points of this clause, I agree to modify my behavior to correct the problem, and/or be subject to corrective or punitive action (including, but not limited to, the termination of my membership and prohibition from OSCA owned or rented property).

OSCA HEALTH AND SAFETY AGREEMENT
21. As a member of OSCA, I am responsible for keeping my co-op safe to the best of my ability. In light of this, I agree to conduct myself in a responsible manner when using an OSCA kitchen. This includes, but is not limited to: cleaning up any mess I create, cleaning up after my personal guests, respecting the dietary needs and preferences of my fellow members, etc.

22. I also agree to attend a crew and food safety training within my co-op at least once every semester that I am a member of OSCA, regardless of any previous experience that I may have.

23. I agree to follow all health and safety regulations set forth by local, State, and Federal agencies, as well as all Oberlin College, OSCA, and individual co-op policy.

24. I shall perform all of my duties as determined by my co-op, and find a replacement in the event that I am unable to fulfill my responsibilities (including conducting my crew shift).

25. In the event that I bring a guest to a meal, I assume all liability for the health and safety of the guest during the meal and in the OSCA space.

SOCIAL JUSTICE
26. I shall work towards social justice within OSCA by respecting that all members, staff and employees face different challenges depending on their identities (i.e. I acknowledge the existence of racism, classism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism etc. in the world).

"Social justice" is herein defined as working towards a society where structural oppression does not exist. "Structural oppression" is herein defined as violence against certain marginalized groups, perpetuated through structures of power (law, government, cultural practices, etc.) for the benefit of privileged groups.

27. I shall listen to, respect, and educate myself about the experiences of members who face systematic barriers. I shall work to accommodate these members to the best of my ability and within the boundaries of OSCA's policies.

28. I shall spend at least one hour per month engaging with relevant social justice issues, i.e. reading literature, watching videos, attending workshops, etc.
