Dear Neighbor,
Merion is blessed with beautiful street trees that keep our homes cooler, raise property values, encourage walkability in our neighborhoods, reduce flooding and pollution, and more!
Over time, canopy gaps have developed as trees have naturally died or been removed.
The MCA has an opportunity to purchase trees at a discount through the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). PHS requirements include that the trees are planted along streets and that group leaders trained in proper tree planting supervise the plantings. The MCA will lead a volunteer planting in Merion to fill in the street-tree gaps.
We are seeking residents who have space for street trees, or willing to purchase a new tree. The planting of bare root trees from PHS will take place during the weekend of April 24-25.
